hi hello how's it going it's elena i'm obviously coming to you stateside based off my background but i have a very exciting episode of buzzed in today i have teased in other apartment videos that i've been wanting to take this international and the time has finally come this is your first time seeing buzdin welcome i like to highlight different apartments primarily in the past it's been in new york but today we're going to paris and show off the decor the style as well as a little history of the local area in this case we are headed to a houseboat on the sen river which if you've never been to paris the sun essentially runs right through the middle of paris and there are quite a few houseboats docked alongside this river and actually in 1991 riv dwat and riv gauche the right bank and the left bank essentially were added to the unesco world heritage site which shows the importance and the value of this area it's cool to see the interaction the connection of the city to the water and this river so it's incredibly unique that we get to go see a houseboat today i met sasha through a mutual friend in new york who's parisian he introduced me to sasha my friends and i um hung out with him quite a bit he's an incredible guy super sweet he's born and raised in paris and today we're actually visiting his family's house book that now he lives at by himself so enough talk let's go check out the houseboat hi elena how are you welcome to my houseboat i'm gonna show you around and uh so that you can see what it is to live on a houseboat in paris i'm now going to show you the living room it's where we spend a lot of time especially during winter with my family as you can see there's a there's a lot of different art pieces that's a photography book guy called helmet newton that i really enjoy all the stuff that you see are things that we brought back from holidays the baby yeah does it have a story i think my dad got it it comes from china but i don't even know like the name of the artist as you can see there's a lot of different books on different topics that we're all pretty much interested about we love to sit here and read there's the the fireplace that makes it very enjoyable especially during winter time small different things that we that we like and that really mean something to us i'm now going to show you the the rest of the boats so we're back here that's actually where you drive the boat from you can still turn it on i don't have the key with me right now but we could just take off with the boat and and go away right now it's a bit of an organization because we have to warn the people around it's a 40 meters long boats so it's not just an easy ride but it's doable we're back in the entrance basically that's my scooter i go to work every day with it over there it's quite simply some guest bathroom and now if you follow me i'm going to show you the the kitchen area here's the kitchen area that's where we do pretty much every family meal honestly i'm i'm not a great cook i'm lucky enough that people in my family cook well yeah it's a pretty nice place to cook from we are also very close to the terrace which has an incredible view outside area when it's sunny like today it's very enjoyable to spend time here have lunch dinner here i had a couple good parties here as well with my friends a lot of questions asked me for below water level when we come here and we're not it's just the the main floor where all the the rooms are so here is just like a guest uh bathroom now i'm gonna show you uh my room welcome to my room it hasn't changed since maybe 10 years so since when i moved here but i'm really attached to everything that there is in this room actually i grew up with it and it all means a lot to me here you can see some airplane seats from the 1960s air france that were first-class seats it was just for the joke at the beginning of having airplane sits in an actual houseboat i think it comes from a flea market so my parents are into interior design and they always like to get stuff that are a bit random and that you can't just buy in a shop normally i'm passionate about music electronic music so i always have my little decks uh not too far and speakers that's also a painting that i bought when when i got here it says ush in french which means where am i it's a kind of joke like related to the whole houseboat situation and just not living the typical apartment life that someone would regularly have in paris now i'm going to show you the the bathroom so i have my shower and toilets and actually right next to my bathroom is the old engine room where all the boat engine is and where you need to put the fuel bag because everything works with fuel the heating the gas and all that stuff so i'm gonna show you the engine of the boat um it's a huge volvo they come and we fill the fuel about every three weeks it's been the same engine for tens of years the boat is actually from 1932 it was renewed a couple times but this room has always been the engine room and the emergency exit over there and all the things that basically make the boat work this is one of my sister's room it's actually a bit smaller but very very cozy she has her her little bathroom over there so it's really her own little kind of nest when she doesn't want people to bother her because she works a lot so as i told you uh we're really into interior design and very like unique pieces we wanted to find something a bit more a bit different so those lights are actually inside of uh old books and it actually looks nice at night when everything is off and you just see like those books with the lights coming out of it uh that's uh that's a guest bedroom that we rarely use we call it the blue room just quite simply because it's all blue with some very old postcards that actually belongs to my grandmother and we thought it would look cool in there welcome to my other sister's room there's a lot a lot a lot of lights coming into this one and a very nice view on the bridge she also has her her own bathroom that's basically in the same room it's not very wide but it's a very long room here again you can see different books and some very different objects those were bought in vietnam while we were going on holidays and and that's the thing about this boat when you look around you see that there's very small details but everything was chosen for a reason we enjoy traveling a lot we love bringing back small pieces here it reminds us of good times good memories i'm now going to show you the master bedroom that's the master bedroom that's basically the other end of the boats and that offers a really nice view as you can see again some various different art pieces those are pictures of religious weddings pictures of the family as well when it gets cold during winter you can actually turn that on and make a fire inside of it if you remove that that curtain you also have another view on the on the top of the bridge i'm sasha that's my houseboat in paris i moved to that houseboat about 12 years ago i was in high school and my parents decided to move here the reason why they decided to move here in the first place was because we lived in a very normal parisian apartment and they kind of wanted something different somewhere surrounded with the life and culture just trying a different experience so they really fell in love with that place but it's we all moved here i then moved three years later to do my studies in london and came back about six months ago and my mother was living somewhere else and my two sisters now live on their own so i'm left alone on that boat really an incredible way of life it's very different i love to have people over i love to organize things here i would say it's not the best place to be living on your own and that's why it was really nice with my family and i'm trying to keep this thing going by always having people around or organizing events doing all kinds of stuff here on the on the road what brings me back to this boat actually is my job i'm working for a french startup that's called be real it's an authentic social media app that's really booming in europe we went from 10 000 users a couple months ago to 600 000 daily active users people just love it add your friends on the app and once a day at a random time that's the same time for everyone you receive a notification on your phone saying it's time to be real at that moment you have two minutes to take a picture so it takes the picture both sides of the camera on the selfie side and on the back side of the camera and then uploads on the feed you need to post your b-reel every day in order to have access to your friends be real in a very authentic way there's no filters there's no likes you can add a caption and comments on your friends be real especially with everything that's going on in the social media industry a lot of things that are unhealthy a lot of teenagers are depressed because of the social standards that people now have when they think of lots of the social media that we have today and at be real we're really trying to fight this so it's a company that i really believe in my mission right now in the company is to make be real big in the us i suggest convincing or adding about five friends on the app it makes the experience amazing and i'm sure you won't regret it there's quite a few questions that i get asked often like for example do people get seasick on the boat i would say it's a very extreme minority of people but some people feel a bit dizzy even though the boat doesn't move that much especially at night when there's no traffic on lassen the boat barely moves but some people can still feel it it was never a problem neither for me or my family or most of my friends the boat is actually 40 meters long on six meters large it was built in 1932 in the netherlands and then brought back here after a couple years because it's such a big boat it's really an organization it's a lot of planning to take it away so yes it can turn on uh we just need a simple key the same way you would turn on a car but it's uh it's a lot more complicated than this to just like navigate but we we can do it from from time to time and we had done it a couple times in in the past i really enjoyed living in paris the first reason being it's the city that i know the most i grew up here and lived most of my life here i have my family here i'm really close with my high school friends the quality of life is really good here i love traveling but it's always good to be back here paris became a lot better when i left about seven years ago i'm also very passionate about electronic music so techno house it's a scene that's really getting bigger and bigger in paris something that obviously i spend a lot of time doing when i have free time and seeing the scene getting bigger here is also something that i really enjoy about about the city in general it's a city that's full of history full of culture full of art there is always something to do foreign
