hi hello how's it going it's elena welcome back to my channel and today i'm bringing you guys another little apartment video i have a series here on my channel called buzzed in where i basically tour people's apartments around new york city today we're heading to columbus circle which is basically the edge of hell's kitchen and upper west side on the corner of central park to visit logan i saw logan's apartment i think i'm like tick tock or rails i slim those dms i asked if we could do an apartment tour he was super down so i'm very excited to show up his space it looks super cool and funky and before we head on over to logan's apartment i'd love to talk about just a little bit of history of the area i've done quite a few apartments on the upper west side already so we're going to focus a bit more on columbus circle which is this like specific little area like i said it's right on that corner of central park and basically it's kind of like an entrance point to central park the development started for in 1842 and wasn't finished all the way until 1905 when central park was completed in the mid-19th century the circle was kind of planned as a thoroughfare for horse-drawn carriages originally there used to be trolleys that ran around this area and now it's a super trafficked area you know there's different subway stops so there's always a lot of people a lot of cars a i'm 29 and i live in the columbus circle neighborhood of manhattan i live in a 500 square foot one bed one bath and i pay 25 20 a month which is net effective off of a 27.50 basement when i got this apartment i had seen this vision before i saw anything else like i knew i wanted this mirror on this wall with the black background this is the pawn mirror from firm living it took forever to get to me but it was worth every single day that was laid it's such a unique piece in itself i thrifted this fun little vase and threw in some fake eucalyptus and then this is a fun way to jazz something up this is like your standard bedside table from ikea but i also got this doorknob from azara in sweden and it kind of like gave it new life so just threw a few books down there welcome to my living room i am obsessed with the space i probably spend the most time out here when i'm not in my bedroom these are 20 sconces 20 total they were thrifted in a really cool flea market in denver by my brother and his fiancee and they're like treasured items for me i think you have to like decorate any space with things that speak to you my grandmother was going to get rid of this base and i just refused to let her get rid of it so i packed it with me on my way back from arizona you'll notice my wallpaper every space in my home has one unique feature and i've done that with removable wallpaper that is kind of my pop if you will to kind of bring the space to life and offer an opportunity for conversation these are just three panels from efficiency store called on decor store and i'm obsessed with it's open every weekend all year long and you can get an amazing deal it's west 76 in columbus and it's in an old school yard this beautiful mirror was only 60 and it feels like a fun pop off of the anthropology mirror that everyone's obsessed with i love that my couch a lot people are curious about where i got it it's actually from ikea and it's a loveseat adequate for the space my clothes are from all over like this green one i bought in sweden was just obsessed with details and this blanket was also purchased in sweden my friends and i went through a weekend and i came back with a whole bunch of home friendships york we always like pay tribute and homage to our home i got this at home goods for literally under 100 the biggest hurdle was just getting it on the subway and hauling home we love a good deal beautiful thing about my space is this unique table i actually got this also at ikea it can completely fold down to this like middle modular section so both sides will completely fold the leaves will go down there's three drawers on either side offering unique storage for all those random things that we keep in our kitchen that our manhattan kitchens do not allow for us to keep in there and i also knew i wanted mid-century modern style chairs they didn't want to pay that price so i actually started googling inspiration of what i was looking for and when i found the structure of the style i was looking for i went to amazon and i was able to find these and total the four chairs were three hundred dollars welcome to my tiny manhattan kitchen it is absolutely that tiny there is zero storage one really interesting thing is my dishwasher it's built below my sink so actually like it's pretty spacious but it does offer homemade a back tray for like littler things so you have to be methodical of what you put in there we make it work in the city i do have a full-size fridge which is also sometimes unique to new york and the neighborhood these are my great grandmother's old recipes i stem onto hand towels so it's a little bit of home and my heritage it follows me every apartment this is my monstera obsessed with her i got it from a previous relationship this is thriving that did not i got this little print in asheville north carolina at a little art store i was just drawn to the colors and the unique lines i knew exactly where it was going to go when i purchased it i got this plant it was maybe a quarter of the size just a few months ago i knew it needed a better home and i loved this planter i got it on etsy these are just some fun pieces i got these were each a dollar at the minnesota state fair it was an artist that was printing on dictionary ages and i was obsessed with the look so before we jump into the bedroom i'll just show you my bathroom space i did also pick this up in north carolina and my friends and i were visiting an art craft fair this was five dollars and just like too cute to pass up the bathroom is nothing crazy but it does leave a beautiful big standing shower so this bedroom comes with two closets this one i use for just a lot of my like winter coats and my dog's things i also have this one all my like regular clothes and my day-to-day things this is like my workspace i do a lot my freelancing here so i try to separate the spaces that i'm working in like creative corner and like my day-to-day business stuff out there i'm a better person because of my peloton and i'm grateful to have the space for it a fun feature again about my apartment is this wall is also removable wallpaper what my brother and i did was we hung each panel up to a certain degree and then we put a string in each corner and then i exacto down from corner to corner and then we peeled it away and i almost feel like it doesn't even need art necessarily behind my bed because the wall itself becomes art i invested in nice pillows during the pandemics bro pillow was actually a gift from my friends as like my fourth year of living here i'm obsessed with it i've never seen anything quite like it it's fully embroidered this art piece actually has a unique story i was on the subway minding my own business and i got a tap on the shoulder and a man had drawn me he just was drawing people all throughout the ride and i hadn't even noticed him until he tapped me on the shoulder i treasured it and it's been by my side ever since that is so cool i've lived in new york city for six years i'm a manager of digital marketing and strategy working in education space and i'm also an adjunct professor at fordham university i really just came to new york for the pure sake of wanting a challenge i was born and raised in minnesota and i moved here from duluth if you're familiar on lake superior when you think about where you move you never think about that as a relationship and when you find a place that complements who you are it makes a world of difference i felt that i would best be suited to live a life in the city i matched my fast-paced life that i was trying to live in a place that wasn't so fast-paced when you find a relationship that works and it's a healthy one that's a really beautiful thing my favorite advice about decorating your home two things come to mind one is think about sight lines when you start to move through a space how does everything work together i also really encourage shopping in places that you aren't like totally mainstream a lot of my stuff is bought on etsy or in small shops throughout my travels they spoke to me and now they found a home in my space once you start to assemble things that speak to you your space will start to come together but it all comes through with purpose i live in a unique part of new york that isn't like fully recognized i say that i live in columbus circle which isn't like a neighborhood that you're gonna find on the map technically i live in midtown west other places say i live in hell's kitchen but i'm too far east or west of some of these locations to really identify as that's my neighborhood i live right off of the circle it's a giant roundabout just north of my apartment right off of the southwest corner of the park when i moved to this neighborhood i knew i wanted to be in it my previous neighborhood was like a little quiet and far away so i wanted to be in the thick of it i'm close to like nine train lines that go all across the city so i can always find my way back home i really wanted to be right off the park i'm like a huge runner i'm from the midwest i love my nature and this is like the biggest slice of nature we're gonna get in the city access to trains fun shopping opportunities unique little bakeries and the park where like all came together at columbus circle was the perfect spot for me i will say like a lot of families live around here close to a lot of big corporations the hearst building is right across the street so a lot of like working professionals who didn't want to commute very far or walking was really important to them to get to work like we all kind of surround the space my favorite part about new york is the people that live here and i will say that because i never resonated with a group of people in this community more than i have in any other place we're all here for a purpose we're all here for a goal we're all here for a unique identifier to our lives and we're here pursuing that when you move to a place where people are constantly pursuing your dream it pushes you hard nothing about the city is easy but we didn't move here to be easy we moved here to accomplish a goal and i think when you start to surround yourselves with like minds and finding unique parts of the city that speak to you it's an experience like no other and i think you really can't fully appreciate what the city is until you're a part of it my last
