how's it going it's Elena and welcome back to my Channel today we're doing another episode of budon where I basically show you different apartments here in New York City this is a very full circle episode so the first ever video I filmed was on my friend Allison's apartment of Bushwick like 3 years ago and we're going back to see Allison except this time she lives in Williamsburg and her apartment is so cool and so unique so I'm so excited to tour it she's like the queen of Hosting as well so on the topic of Apartments I we're talking about something I discovered a few years ago which is lemonade insurance which I'm very excited because they're sponsoring today's video so if you haven't heard of lemonade it's essentially super easy and digital insurance for all the important things in your life you can sign up in seconds and get life car renters home and pet insurance it's cool about limited is that you make your claims 100% digitally you pay 100% digitally and any unused premiums are actually contributed to charity which I think is incredible of course coverage can also start as low as $5 a month depending on you know your location and your unique situation and your stuff may be covered when you're away from home which is amazing especially for someone like me who's traveling a lot this is really helpful so I personally have my apartment insured through lemonade and I recently actually insured the camera that I'm currently filming on because I was going on a trip to Guatemala and I was like I should probably ensure this like high quality camera gear before climbing up a mountain which was what I was doing there I was going to like hik volcano and so I'm glad I got it inured essentially shout out to Lemonade so don't miss out it's so necessary to have the important things in your life insured to make sure they're safe and secure and you can click the link of my bio to see how honestly quick and easy it is to get an insurance quote today so thanks again to eliminates for sponsoring this video and on that know let's head on over to Williamsburg and go see Allison's apartment let's go hi welcome I'm Allison I'm Maddie I'm Gabriella and this is our three-bedroom apartment in Williamsburg Brooklyn and our rent is $4,000 nail y Welcome to our living room let me show you around so this is our living room area we have a lot of art on the walls I feel like it creates a very joyful and very vibrant space to be in this one is one of my favorites it's a vintage Formula 1 poster that I found at the MoMA we actually found the Lockers in the corner on the street me and Maddie wheeled them like seven blocks over and a lot of our furniture is thrifted one of my friends Brothers girlfriend gave us this green couch it's a velvet it just ties the whole room together another thing that I really love is our calendar boards we have these two calendar boards and it's fun just for all three of us to write down what we're doing for the month and and they're actually behind frames so every month we basically wipe them off and then reate the new dates another thing that's really nice about this apartment is that the ceilings are really high and so what we had thought is we wanted to keep things really low to the ground so when you're sitting it feels like the ceilings are even higher than they are we took the legs off this pink chair and this green chair I feel like something that is really nice is very soft lighting so we hung these string lights up we found some of these rice paper lanterns and then it kind of just created more of this glowy light that everything just feels very cozy this mirror wall is really nice for reflecting light and expanding the space as well we found these all on Facebook Marketplace we just lifted them up the wall so they would reflect the light from above our rooms so any light that we can kind of grab and reflect back into our living room space we try to do it's all concrete black flooring so it felt a little cold and we really warmed up the place with a bunch of rugs they're all overlapping it just creates this very intimate setting and can take your shoes off and your feet will be carried by rugs the whole time okay well now I'll give you guys a little tour of the kitchen so we basically want want to make it a little bit more homey so we did some more renter friendly changes for instance the backsplash is all green tile that you just stick on these countertops are also stick on a lot of this glass wear we found either downstairs from our neighbors some of these were found in Mexico City to add a little extra counter space we also found this Butcher Block on Facebook Marketplace been here about 3 years now a little bit more than that and we've just slowly collected a lot of stickers a lot of photos very proud also of our third place trivia night winners we also have some menus from different dinner parties we've had and then a little sneak peek of the wallpaper that you'll see in the bathroom both this orange wallpaper and the clouds down there so it's just a kind of fun way to collect some memories and make the space feel a little more personal so this is our bathroom it's really fun um and super bright we have the T inuring wallpaper and then we added in the cloud wallpaper we were just talking about how fun it would be to like take showers and just be in the clouds and then we have the little Tangerine bath mat welcome to my room I like to have my little tray here because I love to enjoy some tea in bed my job is hybrids so half the time I'm working from home so I have my little desk set up here my artwork I I've also just collected over the last few years this one I found in Puerto Rico because I love to write it means here lives a writer um this painting up here my friend Emily actually did Emily Young she's an amazing painter and I asked for one um special for me that she thought would go with the colors in my room in classic New York Fashion we don't really have any closets so this was my kind of way around it I hung this clothing rack up myself to try and feel like I had a little bit of a closet I'm a big reader so I like to have all of my books here as well have my little Peggy goo record up because I love her welcome to my room I had talked about the mirrors in the living room to get to whole Next Level here is this big mirror wall I found most of these tiles online and then I had mapped everything out on my computer before I placed it and spaced them all out to be exactly even away from each other we have more mirrors on this side as well and then of course the gallery wall and this Gallery wall took me a while to build out I painted almost all of these some of my own photography as well where I also painted on them so it just feels like this big expansive gallery that I live in and I go to sleep and I look at my paintings and I feel really proud and I feel really joyful and it's something that I really love about this room this one is a photo I took of my friends when we were walking around in Paris I made this vase out of Ceramics it has all of these holes so you can kind of create more Dynamic flower arrangements by sticking in stems at different angles in all these holes growing up between Hawaii and San Diego nature is just really important to me in living in the big city sometimes I feel deprived of that so bringing in plants into my room and into my home just brings a lot of freshness and makes me feel more calm and at ease and when I'm going to sleep I just have all these friendly plants something else that I really have been enjoying is lamps I love hanging different lamps I have a bunch of different colored lamps this one I found online it's like a vintage Glass Lamp and I love having that as kind of a pendant over my bed I thought it was fun to have a little bit of a disco in ation hanging from one of the exposed beams it's really nice because during the sunrise the light will come in and hit the disco balls and then Speckles will just be everywhere and this is my room this Gallery wall of artwork my mom is a monotype print maker based in California so I really wanted to incorporate her work in my room just to have a piece of her and home with me a piece from Allison and some other artworks from my friends as well have these really fun Rave flyer books that are from different parts of the world which I love to look at and also get inso for throwing parties in New York so I really wanted to have a space where I could work but then also write and make music and practice DJing so I think it's been really nice to have a space just to focus more since the main Loft area is more a hangout spot so it's been nice to just be able to focus on music and and what kind of music I've been playing a lot of techno which has been fun a little bit tricky not having an actual closet but it's really fun to see the different pieces that I have during the winter and the fall and then in the summer it obviously gets a lot brighter full of colors so these are Comics that my friend Lillian anel made she's a Brooklyn based artist and I love having her work here and going to her art shows my name is Maddie I'm from San Diego and I am a data strategist at an attech company my name is Alison I am from Hawaii and San Diego and I am a multimedia artist my name is Gabriella I'm from San Francisco Bay area and I'm a project manager at Media Company another great thing about this apartment is because it's a converted l soft style and it makes it really fun to throw either dinner parties or Halloween parties in here when we do want to have a big party we'll basically move out temporarily of the apartment and take all of the furniture and put it in the hallway and it just creates like an open space where we can have friends come and DJ have a little dance floor so it's very versatile and it makes it really fun to change up the space in a unique way for each different event being able to kind of have your own event space in your your apartment is a really unique feature of this apartment and I think we're all super grateful that we are able to do that and that we have a super that super chill with that another trick that we do for these events where we transform the space is we really use the height of the ceiling to hang different balloons or lanterns or string lights and it really transforms the space when you have so much space above you that can change I think the great thing about Williamsburg is that it feels like a neighborhood that you can just walk around and you see a lot of the same faces you can have your neighborhood coffee shop at the same time it feels a little bit quieter than Manhattan but then on the other hand it's also very close so we're just one subway stop away so we just take the L if we want to go into the City and it feels like it's right next door feel like the kind of essence of Williamsburg is it's pretty young a lot of changes happening but I I feel like the roots of Williamsburg feels very young and creative a lot of history here and my grandparents grew up here so it's really nice to be able to live in a city where you do feel a connection to your history and your family and there so much to explore there's so much to see so much art and culture something that I really love about New York is the access to learning and how much creativity there is around every corner it's been really amazing as an artist to be able to pick up new mediums so easily like anyone that is an expert in their craft they live in New York out of any industry you can find someone that is an industry leader here and it's been amazing to learn how to paint here to learn how to make make Ceramics here to learn how to graphic design here and there's a lot of just creativity and mentorship and accessibility what makes New York so special is just the amount of different kinds of people that are here I think nowhere else has such a diverse group of people in such a small area and I think it's just so fun that you don't know who you're going to meet and what their backstory might be and I think you're just exposed to so many different either cultures or food or just types of art whatever it might be it's just so fun and exciting and I think that you're just Bound To Learn and Grow here
