MOVING VLOG | moving into my *dream nyc apartment*

good morning today's the day it's moving day hello how are we doing okay so let's let the gangs begin it's time to start packing up this room which is kind of crazy and i'm feeling a little nostalgic about even though i'm quite excited to move out you know you can still get a little emo with all the memories you've had in place the movers are coming bright tomorrow morning and i'll be all ready to go so let's get to packing i think what i'm gonna do first and foremost is work on the clothes that's pretty much the majority of the things i on besides maybe like books i actually did a really big closet clean out like a week or two ago where i got like two full trash bags of clothes out of here and i think i'm gonna try to do a bit more and pack stuff up which is crazy i can't believe i'm moving but i'm so excited let's get into it so i think what i'm gonna do to make life easier is kind of go by category so like address all the sweaters at once all the jackets at once all the jeans at once see what i really need and what i don't need i have more than i need like i don't need two robes one of these is gonna have to go keep not so sure about i'm very excited for the new closet i'm getting if you've seen the apartment tour then you've probably seen a little peek at it there's a lot of like room to add in more shelving so i think i'm going to kind of customize it a bit more and probably just get some shelves the landlord's pretty flex and obviously as it is with rentals you can do what you kind of want to the place i think people are always surprised that you can like paint drill things into the wall because i just got to make it back to normal at the end so i think i'm definitely gonna like cut in more shelving more like hanging racks really to just optimize the space you know it's my bougie dream to have a walk-in closet and that's not gonna happen new york city but you best believe i'm gonna make use of every little square inch of space even though apartment is far bigger than any apartment i've gotten to live in before in the city is it appears that the pile has gotten bigger instead of smaller it's been several hours i've watched like almost a full season of sex in the city and i feel like i'm probably one of the few 20 something gals that moved to new york city and hasn't already seen sex in the city so i feel like it's like you know my rite of passage so i'm slowly chipping away the clothing i have quite a bit to give away over here and i'm going category by category to see what i have it's gonna be a process all right a little eight o'clock update i'm an hour like nine kind of making progress let me show you guys what i have so far bought these fancy new glasses from creighton barrel cause i'm like you know i feel like having nice glassware just really makes you feel like an adult but i'm also like i'm gonna break that so quick i don't trust myself closet's looking haggard but you can you can get the feel a lot of the clothes are taken out gonna eat and then get back to it good morning day two packing i have to go to fedex to get some more boxes and it is snowing all right people and comments will be like you're such like a california gala heart i'm like i don't belong to any one place i love the city but then when it snows like this i'm like give me some sunshine hello how are we doing it's day two of packing it's 4 30 so it's gonna be a long evening i had to get some work done today posted a new video you can kind of see a lot of the main big pieces are still here but i packed up a lot of my clothing and whatnot i transitioned from watching sex in the city to true detective i literally watched i don't even know how many hours of tv while packing yesterday you know kind of distracts from the pain of having to pack everything up but it does make you go slower so we'll see if i keep it up it is so freaking snowy today and kind of miserable but we got new beginnings ahead and that is definitely something to look forward to boost my mood keep me excited happy let's go the movies are actually coming today finally i packed up all my clothes so yes i'm wearing the same shirt of course today decides to snow really hard this is gonna make things interesting for sure so here's how the room's looking right now pretty much everything's packed away my closet's basically empty i've taken most of the art off my wall i made a horrible blunder and i almost shed a tear i accidentally was pulled off while i was moving my bookshelf so i'm trying to propagate her here because look at her she's already so long and luscious and so hopefully this propagation will save her so we got more bags and boxes out here in the snow i've got my guitar and all my things well some of my things the movers packed up most of the stuff and are driving it over oh snow on my eye and i'm just carrying over a few other items that are lighter or more delicate that i don't want damaged and yeah my room is looking so empty it's crazy how much smaller it looks empty i haven't actually been over since we've got the keys don't say i don't feel worthy this is crazy i'm really excited all right and here's my room look at her i'm filming at night so it's pretty dark but um hello closet space this room is quite a bit bigger than my current room and the previous owner left behind the tv and this chair upon request he's like you want this i was like yes never had a tv in my room in my life this is exciting we out here should we cheers she is welcome to a home so what are we doing that uh a little bit of vision boarding a little bit of um imagining aspirational photoshop yes we've got some great photoshop magic going we're talking neutrals we're talking papa color pop of color being a little mid-century model you know that our schlemmer you know we're working with what we've got we've got our tv we've got our couch a little cozy rug geometric coffee table maybe a little plant there i think it looks pretty good but not too simple but i'll do something simple yet eclectic versus what we currently have going on which is nothing nothing oh my goodness i think i'm like in shock a little bit i don't know if i've ever felt higher imposter syndrome right now i just kind of feel like okay i do not belong here i accidentally broke into someone's home this is definitely not my own i can't get over it it's crazy if you've been following my videos for a while you've seen some of the places i've lived you saw where i lived in new york city the first time you saw my tiny apartments in college right a twin bedroom and i shared a bedroom sleeping twin bed by twin bed and to be here is just so surreal if i was to show 20 year old elena this that girl would not believe that she'd live here one day i can barely believe it now i am just really grateful not if it would be possible without you guys on youtube and having this incredible job in community you know living in a place like this is just gonna be so much more incredible and helpful for just my mental health and getting work done and i'm just so excited like there is direct sunlight look at this i have not lived in an apartment that has gotten a single shed of natural direct light in two years my current apartment is north facing so that means the sun never touches it my room was bright because there was a window then our living room didn't have a window so it was quite dark natalie is moving in i think either tonight or tomorrow so i slept here alone last night and i'm just gonna spend the day basically unpacking and bring you guys along so yeah let's move in shall we i'm back in my old apartment me and natalie just spent the last like hour to packing stuff up into her friend's truck i'm helping her move and i have some other pieces that the movers didn't get to so yeah and also selling a lot i sold a ton of furniture today a bunch of subscribers so that was very convenient hopefully wrapping it up today this is a journey i don't know how anybody moves like in one day like their lease ends and they have to move into their new apartment like day of because this has been like a five-day process of just like all day days so like many many hours of the day just cleaning this up packing it away unpacking moving i'm gonna be buff after this the third wheel our daughter um okay so let's see do you think you might want to wait for yourself you wanna get your lamp doing all your moving today i'm pretty much done you got a ways to go so take this down and then i can get we'll just do that slowly making progress this is a mess i'm funny to think how many people have like collectively seen this apartment for my vlogs my apartment tour the cnbc video grand stefan reacting to the cnbc video like definitely released like a million two million collectively which is so strange to say and now this is what it looks like so here's my room and all it's corey gonna miss this fire escape there's been a lot of good memories here again i've never seen right welcome to the chaos that is currently my bedroom so i think my plan of action is to go through the clothing first because that i obviously know where it's gonna go i really don't know the layout of the room yet i do think i like the bed on this wall and probably the desk under the window but i have no idea what i'm gonna do with like my dresser or my drawers or my mirror etc so it's gonna be another long day can we be more than just friends are getting colder i don't want you like hello just doing a little check-in i'm not really sure what to include in a moving vlog because it's just literally me unpacking but i feel like people enjoy movie vlogs so here we are i'm actually making way more progress than i kind of guessed i wanted to get as much done as possible and i think i could potentially have organized literally all my belongings by the end of today which is the goal which would be amazing me and nat too we were so excited last night i didn't really film it but we were literally like jumping around we both teared up at different points and just like hugged and danced to music and drink a lot of wine and it was lovely i feel like once i get finished organizing i can finally start thinking about purchasing some items to kind of fill in the spaces once i've like put all my belongings down so i think i'm gonna do another hour or two of unpacking and i finally live close to trader joe's so i'm gonna run to trader joe's because i need food and i only want to shop at trader joe's for my groceries from here on out because it's the best first dinner in the apartment just made myself some frozen pizza poured myself a glass of wine and you know what it was very tiring but a successful day nonetheless i just wanna be the one for you
